A Common Theory of Oriental Medicine
An Integral Model for the System of Acupuncture Channels
The proposed model combines the fundamental theories of Chinese, Indian and Iranian medical traditions into an integral theoretical system.
The model graphically describes functional-energetic connections of the acupuncture meridians and predicts the presence of new additional links between them.
In this study we show that in the system of acupuncture channels there are two types of multifunctional groupings of the 12 classic meridians: one corresponding to 3 doshas (pneuma, phlegm and bile) of Indian and Tibetan medicines, and the other one corresponding to 4 primary matters (yellow bile - safra, black bile-savda, lymph and blood) of Greek, Arabic and Iranian medicines.
The functional-energetic connections of the acupuncture channels are regarded as the types of integration of these 3 or 4 groupings into one energosystem. Applying this model to the system of extraordinary channels reveals 4 new extraordinary meridians and plausible master points for their activation.
The model is based on Tibetan medical science and does not contradict the theory of Chinese medicine, but supplements it by embracing the links described in other ancient medical traditions and providing, therefore, an integral concept for the energetic connections within the system.
Video represents only 1 of 4 theoretically possible variations of relevance for 12 meridians and 4 main matters.
